Book: Drops Like Stars

We were asked to create a design for Drops Like Stars that was both beautiful and visually compelling. From concept to completion,
I worked with an amazing team of people to make sure every last detail was well thought out.

To support the overall concept of the book, we wanted to take something that was iconically beautiful and
destroy it to show that in it’s destruction it could be even more beautiful. The cover photography was created by dipping exotic flowers into liquid nitrogen and then smashing them against
a hard surface.

The Publisher at Zondervan said, “This is one of the most well designed books we have ever published.”

Seth Herman helped to create the compelling design of this book, while Jay Irwin
captured a majority of the amazing photos in this book. For a full list of credits, please see the book.

This is a concept website design that we created for Brembo. Brembo is the premiere manufacturer of brakes for companies like Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini and many other high end automotive brands.

The feedback from Brembo was extremely positive.

Steelcase is a $3 Billion a year furniture company with a wide range of content and an eye for good design. The challenge was to create a design system for their website that was clean and modern, while maintaining a very flexible structure that allows for a variety of content. From concept to completion a team of us worked and reworked the web site’s design system until we landed on a design that we were happy with. The client was also thrilled with the results.

with Ed Dobson. Ed was diagnosed with ALS 10 years ago. He has some great stories to tell and brilliant things to say. The films have
a variety of topics that are helpful for anyone going through a difficult time.
This is a seven film series.

Brochure: Steelcase

Steelcase is a $3 Billion a year furniture company and Answer was one of their top selling furniture systems. The challenge was to create a high end brochure that highlighted the flexibility of the Answer and it’s surface materials. From concept to completion a team of us worked to refine the brochure. The Director of Marketing for Steelcase said “this is the best brochure Steelcase has ever produced”.

360 is a publication to help educate interior and industrial designers on the impact of their decisions. The focus of this issue was to look at a product’s impact on the environment. The goal of the piece was to remind designers that there are sustainable options available for the products they are designing and using. Visually we wanted to communicate the positive impact that raw materials can have on the environment.

SpringHill Camps sees over 40,000 kids a year. They are known as one of the nations premiere outdoor camps. The challenge was to capture images that highlighted the unique energy and excitement of the SpringHill experience. From sledding to skiing to riding the zip line we captured images of kids doing a variety of outdoor activities while having the time of their lives’. The images we captured have created a new standard for SpringHill.

Report: SC Foundation

The Steelcase Foundation gives millions of dollars away every year. Their philosophy is to provide the resources if others provide the idea. The challenge was to create a visually interesting annual report that supported their philosophy. To us their philosophy felt a bit like giving artists clay and the artist could shape it into something beautiful. From concept to completion a team of us worked on design, small clay sculptures and photography to create this report.

Blue Cross Blue Shield is a large health insurance organization with thousands of employees. The challenge was to create a small brand within their organization that would help employees get familiar with their new space and office furniture. From tags on desks to touch screen displays a group of us worked to get employees familiar with their new offices without completely disrupting their work flow.
